I'm looking for guidance in dealing with Astilbe. This link discusses some of the research: The thread "a little help with Astilbe Hybrid nomenclature" in Plant Database forum

How should we deal with the various hybrids (x arendsii, x crispa; japonica, thunbergii and simplicifolia hybrids)?

ex. ATP
1: Astilbe (Astilbe 'Rheinland')
2: False Goat's Beard (Astilbe x arendsii 'Rheinland')

RHS and MOBOT indicate: Astilbe 'Rheinland' (japonica hybrid) and Astilbe (japonica hybrid) 'Rheinland' respectively.

Do we include - (japonica hybrid) - in the species field in the DB?
or omit species and keep example 1: Astilbe 'Rheinland'?
