Plant ID forum: Help with ID! Woody plant w/thorns

Woody plant with some thorns. Buds are on both sides of stem that result in two leaves. Leaves are tough and thick. Its not thorny in the traditional sense it just has a a pair of thorns mostly where the stem forks. I think its an asian species.
