Out of all the articles that I have read about grow lights. With 1 4 foot light my seedlings still got leggy, with only 1 seed tray. So I made a PVC pipe stand to hang 2 4 foot shop lights, each with 1 cool and 1 warm white bulb. The lights hang about 3 inches apart. Now I can use 2 seed trays. I use a fan for air circulation.

My set-up is just about the same. In the basement, the lights are hung from the ceiling with chains about the same way. To stop the legginess be sure the light bulbs are about 1 inch from the top of the plants and then move the lights up (or the plants down) as the seedlings grow. The plants will not be reaching for the light source. The fan is supposed to make the stems stronger. My fan is on oscillate to mimic natural breeze.
