I was thinking it might be useful for many members to have a way to 'note' to themselves on why they added a particular plant to their want list (and, perhaps, even why they gave it the higher or lower level of desire). To be clear, I am requesting there be two elements added:

1) a textbox that allows a (short?) note to be added on why you added that flower to your wishlist
2) the ability to tag that flower in your wishlist with certain keywords and then bring up a list of all of the items with a particular tag in your list (note: I think it would be useful for a plant in a wishlist to be able to have multiple tags so that it can be in multiple lists for that user)

Here's why:
Textbox: This allows additional notes such as "not sure if it's too big" or "as a replacement for dead rose bush by back patio" or other notes and reminders as to why (/where/etc...) you wanted that plant. I feel this one is pretty self-evident in terms of benefit to the user, so I won't expound on it too much.

Tags: This has multiple benefits, but I believe its primary use will be to allow users to 'collect' a list of desired items and then compare their options (side-by-side, if possible?).

For example, I could tag a whole bunch of daylilies in my wishlist as "Wild Irish replacement" and then, later, I can look back at my options by looking at those tagged with "Wild Irish replacement" and make my choice.

For another example, someone could tag plants in their list with "Mom's Salsa Recipe" and that would bring up all of the plants they had given that tag to and that might help the user know (or decide) which seeds they need to acquire.

Or it could be even more generic, such as a tag of "short plants" that are ALSO tagged with "outside" so that when someone has a spot at the front of their border they wish to fill, they can search for which plants have both tags and select one of those.

(The 'tags' described here are intended for the purpose of assisting with individual plant wish lists, but that's not to say that the tag idea wouldn't also be useful on a broader scale and/or in other areas of the website, of course.)

I noticed you have your entire list in only one category, have you thought about creating different categories, labeling them as you want? For instance, I currently have 1175 plants in my list but I broke them down into different categories by type of plant but I also have one as a "wish' list.

For each entry, you have the option to add any notes, if you click on my daylily list, I have added a few notes like where I purchased, where I planted, who I shared with, etc. So you can break everything down as much as you want and even have your plants in multiple categories. For instance, a single daylily can be in the Daylily category, South bed category, Trade list category, Thinking about purchasing category, etc.

Sue, good suggestion! Now that you mention it, the categories might be just as good as the tagging idea...I think it comes down to 'is it just as easy to create a list out of the categories as it would be to tag them from the get-go when I add them to my wish list?'

There is also a 'comments' section in the plant management list, too, where comments could be put in...

So, I guess what this means is that I should have asked that these features should be available upon adding a plant to the list (not as something you have to go back into your list to do). It's just that one extra step that, when done hundreds of times, adds up to a lot of 'wasted' time.

Thank you for pointing out my 'error'! Smiling Thumbs up

Sometimes what is a habit with how I do things here, is a new feature to someone else! I am still finding new ways to use this site!
Right, you just can't add your notes at the same time so maybe that's something to request from @dave.

When I think of how I'd like my plant list to be, I think I envision it something like the different boards someone can have on Pinterest or Houzz or something similar...

Instead of being horizontal, it's a vertical list.
