Sighing! Got some crazy news yesterday from DH's Oncologist. The bone cancer has returned in the form of a cyst. the good news, it is super lsow growing and not in the bone or anywhere near it. They removed all the bones, after all. Doc says all it took was one cell to be left behind in the surgical field for it to grow. He's been watching it for 18 months. As it grew, so did his concern. Even though Insurance did not approve the PETscan. I am sure they will now after this biopsy and surgery to remove the 2 cm tumor. The area will be tagged and radiation will follow.

I keep thinking I need to read Why Bad Things Happen to Good People. But I'd rather live off idioms like, "Third time's a charm" and think we will be rid of this once and for all. Sighing! And then there's, "All things happen for a reason" which may be why he had a Stress Test and EKG last week? To find out he is healthy enough for surgery. And also that I am off from work with this foot issue and still able to tend to his needs. And that 3 days ago, I cleared out 3 years of files, filed away old papers including medical records from his first cancer surgery, and got my FAX machine up and running. It was almost like I was getting ready for something?? Prophetic?

Cheryl, you're the Energizer Bunny! I believe in intuition. A little voice in your head must have told you to "get ready," for something.

So sorry your DH has to go through another procedure, but good that his doctor kept an eye on it and will remove it now.

Thanks @Bubbles. Like his previous serious surgeries, he involves himself if big, giant projects. The replacement of the bridge went quicker than he thought, so today we started on replacing the side deck. I think the timing of these projects has many reasons behind it. 1) to take his mind off surgery, 2) to take care of things so they won't need to be done while he is laid up, 3) to make him feel like he can still help around the yard, and 4) as he says, I want things to be "right" for me in case things don't turn out right during surgery. The last one is morbid, but I guess you do that kind of thinking before surgery?

I am lucky to be home for this while still tending to my foot tendon injury from that nail back in Dec.. Starting PT on Monday. My foot is on a timer. It is fine in a shoe for 3-4 hours. Then after that it starts to scream. Loudly.

It will be Day Surgery next Thursday morning at one of the big hospitals in the Medical Center. We have been busy FAXing redundant paperwork here and there. Makes you wonder if these people ever speak to each other! We don't expect complications or for him to spend even one night but I will pack a bag just in case. More than anything, we are both anxious to get this behind us!

I totally understand his thinking. I believe we all want to tie up loose ends on projects for all the reasons he's doing them. Didn't your mom always tell you to wear clean underwear in case you were in an accident?!? (That would probably be considered child abuse now...). I know mine did.

Shouldn't you try to keep off that foot....just in case you have to be the home health care nurse for a bit? Take care of yourself a little too. (Yikes, I sound like my mother!).

Let us know how things go. Will be thinking good thoughts of you and yours next Thursday. Thumbs up

Thank you all. Lovey dubby I try to stay positive but as the date gets closer, I tend to fall apart and get more nervous. We love our surgeon. He has been following the case from the getgo , since June 2015. We trust him with all our heart. I tell you what, I am happy that we will be in a different hospital for this surgery. 3 mos stay in the last one makes me never want to go there again. Not even for Day Surgery. It wasn't the staff. They were ALL fabulous. It was the 3 mos! We did our time! In the mean time, there is a deck to be built!

All is well. It wasn't as simple as expected. 5 hr. Surgery. Bottom line, cancer is OUT, leg is still useful. Thumbs up Day Surgery will become a 3-day stay as they address the complications. He is on full bedrest today. Tomorrow, PT will come and well see what actions he's retained. Sifting through the ineptness among hospital workers is my job. I've already made myself at home, located the ice machine and fridge/freezer, and the spare linens, did a gown and bed change. I do all the work and wonder why we never see the staff? D'Oh!
