At Christmas time, I purchased a small potted Silver Variegated English Holly. I would like to try to grow it into a shrub. Would I be wasting my time with this? I live in southwest Missouri.

It depends upon how cold it gets at your house. The plant can withstand temperatures in zone 6 - 9. That means your winter lows can't be less than -5.

Thanks Daisy. That encourages me to plant it. I've never grown a holly bush before, so am eager to try it. Our winters never (maybe I should say hardly ever) get to -5. I appreciate your response. Janice
