Some of you may be interested in my two bulbs of Calydorea amabilis which I grew from seed. It is a small South American species which in its native habitat grows at the edges of rivers and streams and is winter blooming. Here in the UK I grow it in a pot and it is summer blooming. The flowers are small at about two inches and the stems stand no more than six inches high. They bloomed in their first season from seed.
Anyway, two bulbs and two distinctly different blooms...............

Now you've got me! My gut feeling is that they were surface sown on sandy multi purpose compost at room temperature.
