I've heard peppermint seed oil applied to a cotton ball and stuck in a mouse or rat hole , vacates the varmits from your home. The other nite on tv, they advertised pepermint spray. Its suppose to repell everything from bugs on up to deer from your home. Can it be true ?
It would be nice if there was a DIY way to make a garden spray.

I don't think the mice and rats will mind having a house that smells of peppermint.

Don't know if the peppermint spray would work but it's worth a try. You can add peppermint oil and vinegar to a spray bottle of water and give it a shot. Whistling

For indoor use there is a product called Fresh Cab that people use to keep mice out of their RVs. Not too expensive.

There are Mint-X garbage bags that are supposed to keep rodents out of your trash. I first noticed them a couple of years ago but haven't tried it. Greene has a good idea to make up a spray with peppermint oil and experiment on bugs.

I have used EcoSmart Home Pest Control Spray before when we got attacked by ants indoors. It helped, but the smell was really strong, so I also did a cinnamon powder defense line along the window sills, the cinnamon won't kill the ants, but it will disrupt the conga line. Outdoors, I use Ecosmart to spray on contact. But I much prefer diatomaceous earth.

Sorry.
I guess if your question was more clear I would not have made a mistake.

Yeh, I missed the point on that one also. After re-reading, I am concerned about the deer in the house. That might be a bigger problem then mice and ants.

One time my neighbor complained that her husband always left the door open. She had come home to all sorts of things in her house (maybe even deer). That particular time, she was talking about a half dozen peacocks taking up residence in the chandelier in her bathroom.

Peacocks in the house I can understand but a chandelier in the bathroom??? Rolling on the floor laughing

I have to edit that because we had a chandelier in our closet. When we bought our house, it had this really dreadful chandelier in the dining room. Taking a hint from my sister in law (who had hung her dreadful chandelier in the laundry room), I hung ours in the closet. Smiling

Oh, and it was a really small closet so mostly chandelier but my sister in law's laundry room was in the garage. (that made my choice better, right?)

Ok, I'm totally going for a chandelier in my bathroom. Our shower/bath area has a small vaulted ceiling that would be perfect! I could lay in the tub and admire the chandelier. There's a shower head that no longer works hanging in the middle of that vault right now . . it's an eyesore.

Hmm, where to get a nice, cheap chandelier?? Sounds like a Saturday trip to the thrift store to me. Or, here's one I saw at IKEA, always love their lights!

Hey I used an old gaudy chandelier in my living room, I spray painted it a soft cream color, and that took it from 'no way'! to 'wow!' Painting them can really change the look of it in the room a lot.

The ones with the gaudy fake crystals hanging all over them would probably look a lot better with a little spray paint. Purple spray paint.

The chandelier in the bathroom won't get rid of bugs but it will give the peacocks a place to roost.

You have grown so many veggies recently, I can't imagine you need to buy some too.
