Plant ID forum: Any idea what this plant is ?

I got this plant from a friend and now it is growing those sprouts on top. Any idea what is this plant?? I at first thought its cabbage but it is not

*edit* This friend has been away for about 5 months now i got this plant as a seedling from him. So i cant ask him what is it. will gladly use some help from you guys :). tried searching about it every where but no good

Could it be broccoli?

Broccoli was my first thought too, at least it sure looks to be a Brassica of some sort. We have lots of photos in our database for comparison:

Yeah i now did taste it and indeed it tastes like broccli thanks alot guys :D. The florets didnt appear though so i cut off the main head hoping for the sideshoots to be more of a harvest.

The flower reminds me more of that of Collards than Broccoli from what I remember of seeing it grown in gardens.
