Thread OP

Found a pot with these jelly balls and am curious to know if it is a mold or fungus and even poisonous! I would be grateful for any advice.

They look like hydrogel beads. Sold as tiny bits that expand to a much larger size when they absorb water.

There is such a thing a a purlple jelly like substance, see this link:

But I believe yours are too perfectly round and must be the Hydrogel balls. They come in lots of pretty colors.

Yes, I have gotten them in several colors. The pics at the link I put show many colors. I'm not using mine in regard to plants, but have filled a couple decanters with lids with them, and they're just decorative and cool. The real fun is when you first get them, watching them plump-up. The kid in me now wants to get more to watch that again...!

Yup, those are gel beads..I love their different colors too. Just be careful you do not accidentally throw some in your drain.

Thankfully, no, it was caught in time by the paper towel I have put on top of the drain hole, but it is easy to overlook especially when cleaning up some containers that have it, it would have shrunken so small.
