Please help me find the name for this plant. I have searched the internet but can't find it. Downloaded some plant finder apps and no luck. Just bought a house and found this hanging with chains from a tree in the backyard. Would like to learn more about it.

Hi sweetadam, Welcome!

That plant is a Staghorn Fern, possibly the Common Staghorn Fern (Platycerium bifurcatum)

Holy cow what a nice find! That's a staghorn fern - a pretty magnificent one at that! Platycerium bifurcatum Is the most common type and likely what yours is.

When we bought our current home, the former homeowners left a large Staghorn Fern hanging in a tree. I was surprised they didn't take it with them because there's another quite large clump attached to and growing around a pine tree and smaller ones growing on palm stumps in shady areas of the backyard. This is the one they left hanging in a backyard tree:
