Hello,
I am interested in knowing what type of tree I have in my yard. This tree is about 20 ft. tall with a large canopy. Its leaves are waxy green and elongated with smooth edges. This tree drops leaves but never is the tree bare. It also drops many little twigs about 4-8 inches long. It bears fruit/nuts which are dark in color and inside a three sided capsule which is green. The flowers are white. The bark is smooth and we live in San Diego California.

Can you provide some close-up of the leaves? Any of the fruit?

Maybe a Cupaniopsis anacardioides Carrotwood Tree

Thank you all. I agree that is what it looks like. Just wanted to make sure it was not a Camphor Laurel as those are poisonous to goats. It does not look like the carrotwood is poisonous correct.

From what I've read it does not appear to have toxic qualities. Perhaps the ca extension service could give you a more definitive answer
