I'm planning to take car trip with friends to see the bluebonnets this year- so where are the best places to see our state flower? Where have you gone to see the bluebonnets?

We've always taken a day trip to the Hill Country/Brenham. But lately, we have found pockets of Bluebonnets at our local Arboretum, and even at a bayou near by. None compare to the Hill Country, though. While you are there, be sure to stop at The Antique Rose Emporium https://www.antiqueroseemporiu... and Blue Bell Ice Cream Factory (Closed on W/E's) https://www.tripadvisor.com/At...

If you have the patience to get this website to load, he has detailed spots to see the bluebonnets in the Hill Country area. He's a photographer and scouts the best spots. His photos are gorgeous.

Thanks, Cheryl and Sandi.

Such beautiful photos from Jason Weingart! Haven't been to Antique Rose Emporium but have been to Blue Bell. I can't wait to go day tripping!

The Willow City Loop is always a good go-to, also just simply driving around in the country between and outside of Burnet/Marble Falls. The Willow City Loop is nice, because beautiful and historic Fredericksburg is close by. If you're into hiking, Enchanted Rock park is close by as well.

Here's a wonderful site that showcases wildflower viewing in the different regions of the state.

You're welcome! We're on our way to San Antonio for a random short getaway, and there are bluebonnets everywhere along the highway. If they're popping up here, they will be popping up in the Hill Country in mass soon. We aren't known for them, but we do get a "few".

Got as far as Brenham and Washington on-the -brazos, but didn't see huge fields of bluebonnets nor Indian paintbrush. We must not have gone far enough.

Did enjoy our Texas history tour at Washington on the brazos museum and Dr. Anson jones' farm. It is a working farm and the smokehouse was smoking meat. They plant the same plants that were growing in 1850. We even received souvenir gourd seeds.

The two photos taken in the First Baptist Chappell hill's field. The visitor center at Brenham told us about it as we headed back to Houston.

From this past weekend in Fredericksburg

https://garden.org/thread/view...

One of the largest fields that I saw was on the way back home on Hwy 6 between Navasota and Hempstead. People parked their cars and were all out in the field taking photos - there had to be about ten cars pulled over. I didn't see any cows, but I am not sure I would just stop and go out in someones field!
