I have a Japanese holly fern and an elephant ear and their leaves start to wilt and get dry as soon as the soil starts to get dry. For the elephant ear this can happen even when the top soil is moist to the touch. I have another elephant ear in a small pot and I water it thoroughly 2-3 times a week and it looks happy. But the other one is in a bigger pot.

Strange.
Is the air dry in the house?
When I grow elephant ears and ferns in the garden, they can usually get by on what nature provides.... If they're situated properly.
In the house?
Dunno... Doesn't seem right, though.... Maybe move them to the bathroom?

Yeah, I'd say it's pretty dry.

Safe to say, add water to the EEs. I grow some of mine on the shallow shelf in the pond. They sit directly in water. No soil. They grow huge!

OK. Maybe I should fill its saucer with water.
