I live in central New Jersey (zone 6b) and am considering planting a Liriodendron tulipifera sapling in my yard this spring. I've read that the yellow poplar weevil is increasingly common, but that it may be limited by cold winters. Is it a notable problem in my zone? What steps can I take, beyond providing the tree with its preferred conditions, to prevent infestation before it gets started? Are there other L. tulipifera-specific pests/diseases I should know about? Thank you for any help.
