Plant ID forum: Unidentified weed

I have a low spreading weed in my lawn that i can't identify or kill.Its spreading to different areas .I've never seen it before, the leaves are curly and dark grey in colour with white edges.

Hi Loll, Welcome!

Can you give us an idea of where this is growing? You don't have to give your exact location but a city, state or area of the county will help in identifying. I'm thinking rather than a weed it might be Lichen, Fungi of some sort.

Looks like dog lichen aka Peltigera.
If your lawn area has compacted soil, poor drainage, damp conditions the lichen can get a foothold.

To get rid of it you need to improve drainage, aerate the lawn. Don't know your location but around here we can rent an aerator or a lawn plugger at Home Depot or Lowe's.

Thanks everyone i live in UK my lawn is damp most of the year .Last November i bought an aerater I always put weed feed down every year this year I'll put down weed feed and moss killer i hope that will work thanks for all replies .
