Thread OP

My phalenopsis roots have wrapped tightly around the wooden slats and it's time to repot. Is there any way to loosen or remove them without damaging the plant and what should I do? I heard I could just put the old slat basket into a hew bigger one but I don't want a heavy weight on the branch available to hang it. I live in a hot and humid climate. Thanks for any help you can provide. PS Sorry I don't know how to include a photo.

Welcome!

We had this conversation last week in the Orchid Forum.

Thread OP

Thanks Daisy, but does this mean I absolutely should not cut the roots to get it out of the slatted pot?

I think that's the part we never decided. I was for letting the wood slat pots rot away and leaving my orchid hanging by the pot wires.

Its all personal preference. Sorry!

Please try to upload a photo. It will really help to see what you are dealing with.

Maybe we can have this thread moved to the Orchid Forum?
