Looks like Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) possibly, a little difficult to see clearly. Also where is it located, city or general area in state.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

I don't know if it is mullein. On my blooming ones, the leaves are larger and very fuzzy, and the blooms are pale white. It may be my monitor, but these blooms look yellow.

I don't know what it is called but I have it all over my place. I also have mullein. I think the original plant posted has smooth thin pointed leaves. very shiny and dark green at my house.
By the way the Honey Bees LOVE those blossoms Hurray!

I agree The bees are always at my mullein blooms. The baby plants looks so cute, but they have gotten out of hand on our property and I'm now having to get rid of them.

There are several Verbascum that are yellow. Hard to tell from the original poster's photo if the centers are darker plum or what the leaves look like.

If it is a verbascum, it's considered a medicinal herb.

Please do not attempt to eat anything unless and until you have a positive identification from someone local. Looking at one photo is not enough for us to give you information about edibility. That being said, the only use I know for any type of Mullein is as a tea; the dried leaves can be steeped in boiled water to make a tea that help to suppress coughing. But again, don't try this until a local person gives you a positive ID.

I agree, it looks like a Verbascum, but not the common big wooly mullein (thapsus)
