Mar 21, 2017 4:41 AM CST The Beginner’s Guide to The 5:2 Diet

The 5:2 diet, also known as The Fast Diet, is currently the most popular intermittent fasting diet.It was popularized by British doctor and journalist Michael Mosley. It’s called the 5:2 diet because five days of the week are normal eating days, while the other two restrict calories to 500–600 per day.

How to Do the 5:2 Diet
The 5:2 diet is actually very simple to explain.
For five days a week, you eat normally and don’t have to think about restricting calories.
Then, on the other two days, you reduce your calorie intake to a quarter of your daily needs. This is about 500 calories per day for women, and 600 for men.
You can choose whichever two days of the week you prefer, as long as there is at least 1 non-fasting day in between.

I have been reviewing the FAST diet. Out of about 38 diets evaluated by the pundits the FAST diet rated at 32. This I find astonishing considering my success.

On 2 September 2016 I weighed 202 pounds. About 15 December I weighed 180 pounds. This was an astonishing weight loss of 22 pounds in about 100 days. This translates into about 1.5 pounds per week. An almost perfect amount to lose over time.

Now the most remarkable thing is I am still exactly at 180 since. A total of about 14 weeks of no weight gain. Which is the purpose of the exercise.

My well being is typical. I feel a desire for junk food at times but suppress it. Is it beneficial? Hard to evaluate but in general I think it is/was worth the effort.

Now that I appear to be in control, I may start a weekly treat of cooking something special or eating out at a desirable restaurant.
