Howdy all.

Might anyone know what this plant is? It comes up every winter (late winter > early spring),
and has these cool purple bell flowers. The flowers last about 2-3 weeks and then it goes away until the next year. They were isolated to one area of the yard, but over the past 5-6 years they've slowly creeped into nearby areas, but very deliberately - not like a weed or anything

We didn't plant them, rather, we inherited them when we bought the house. It was quite a nice surprise the first winter when they popped up, as we had no idea they were there.

If I need to relay any additional info, please let me know.

Thanks!

Jim

I call them Wood Hyacinths. Type that in the data base or google it and see if you agree. We love Lovey dubby new members. Welcome!

I agree Hyacinthoides hispanica, common name Wood Hyacinth or Spanish Bluebells.

I love them too.

I prefer them to the more popular Hyacinths........they are more graceful and look lovely in more natural settings.

That's why I call mine 'bluebells'. I don't like hyacinths. I call them bluebells even when they bloom pink or white. Smiling

They do grow from small bulbs which you can dig up to plant elsewhere if you care to.
