My avocado tree is about 1.5 years old. I am located in Southern California and I keep my tree on the east side of my house next to a wall so it receives morning sun and half shade. It is grown in a pot and I water it about once a week. Last week I tried adding coffee grounds on top of the soil because I heard it was good fertilizer. The past couple days I've noticed the leaves are developing brown spots and it keeps getting worse. I don't know if this is due to the coffee or pests or maybe because the temperature is starting to get warmer here. Does anyone have experience with this and if so how did you treat it?

Possibly Persea mites. Very common avocado pest here.
Edited to add, actually there are several mites that attack avocado trees.
