Lest anyone thinks that butterfly gardening might be on the decline, you should have been at the UF butterfy plant sale Friday and yesterday.
There were so many many people Friday morning, by noon, everything was gone, the pots wre on their sides and shoved around everywhere. It was like something Ive ever seen. People going crazy for these plants. So, once I got over being ticked off I didnt get anything, I went back yesterday. I was their early, managed to be 4th in line. Even tho they did not restock much, I did eyeball just a few things for fun. OK,...so 10ocock rolls arund, the line is 75 people long, and the guy in charge comes out and says...OK folks, after what happened here yesterday, we are going to do things different today. Since it takes two of us, to help one of you, one for a runner and one to fill out invoice, and we have 10 helpers, that means we are going to let only 5 people at a time come in, get their plants, and when one leaves, the next can go in. D'Oh! D'Oh! D'Oh! Grumbling Grumbling Grumbling . I was in the first 5, so fine with me, but can you imagine the response from the others, at this point 100 or so. I hope they made lots of money, but boy did I feel sorry for the people that drove from Jacksonville. In all fairness, Ive been every spring and fall, and never have seen the amount. Guess we will see if they tighten that situation up before next year...or October.
I did manage 19 plants/trees.
As luck would have it, the graduate students were having a great coleus sale, They really have got themselves some beauties. Got some that were not on the market yet, some that were, but I was wrapped up in the moment. When I got over there t 10:45 on Saturday, they too said it had been wild the last two days, and that they had taken everything out of the greenhouse that they had to last thru Sunday.
Anyway.... point is......we have lots of commrads in arms, helping the butterflies and that love plants.

I know I always say butterflies, but Im trying to make the bees just as happy.

Trying to figure what to do with the Garberia, as I type. It gets a bit bigger than I had planned. Im guessing a slow grower tho.
