i planted a variegated williger bush last year and only part of the bush got its leaves the other part is bear and has no buds i don,t think its dead but iam not for sure what do you think i should do iam kind of afraid to do anything right now becouse i keep thinking that more leaves and buds well appear later

I'm not sure which plant you mean. Do you mean Variegated Weigela?

Where you have it planted, does it get some good sun? They need sun to grow well and have the blooms. I'd not cut it now. Wait to see if more leaves and blooms will come on it. Normally they are very easy plants to grow. How long has yours been planted? When newly planted, it may take a couple of years to get large and bloom well. In the beginning, they focus on growing roots.
