I'd really like to plant this in a spot in Durham, North Carolina that only gets a few hours of direct sun. Will it achieve it's pink flowers with that little direct sun or need I put it in fuller sun?

@benedictlaur Welcome to NGA.

While Muhlenbergia capillaris (Pink Muhly grass) performs best in full sun, it can still do well in part shade as long as it gets some direct sun and lots of bright light. Just remember, it needs well drained soil.

I ordered 2 pink muhly grasses online spring 2017. They were tiny when arrived (couple of inches high) so I potted them and waited til they were ready to go in the ground. Plenty of sun and watered everyday. They now stand about 2 feet high, yet have not bloomed yet. Late September. Is it possible they won't bloom this fall, its first year? Could I expect blooming next season of 2018?

Thumb of 2017-09-25/Kittyluvr400/758790 you can barely see this one, as that was taken over my the marigolds and a bunny grass on the right. Tap the pic for a better look.

Thanks so much for any replies.

Many plants in my garden really overgrowned this year. The garden was started in 2016. I'll always learn from my mistakes the following spring.

Thanks. I'm in NY. My other grasses are coming into bloom this week, but the muhly shows nothing. Wondered if it doesn't usually bloom the first yr. I still have October, so we will see.
