Sorry, I posted a comment before seeing "Dark Aura" in the title, so I deleted the comment. Moderator, feel free to delete this post.

I wish I had experience with it - it has been on my wish list for quite a while because of the foliage. Lovey dubby

Technically it's a x robusta, being a hybrid between i.versicolor and I.virginica.
Anyone with oryzalin (aka Surflan, Embargo), am looking for a small amount rather than 5litres from manufacturer (min size in Australia....)

Was just pointing out it isn't technically a versicolor like mentioned in the thread title due to it being a hybrid between i.versicolor and i.virginica (which are generally called xrobusta).

It should be fine in your area. I think it general it's more known for it's foliage (which changes a bit throughout the year) than it's flower.

Wow - I love the purple based foliage. Lovey dubby

According to Woodbridge plant nursery in Australia it is "A spectacular iris with indigo flowers and black stems. Medium height and easy to grow in most conditions providing the soil is not too dry".

I might buy some too. It should grow well in my clay soil.

Thank you all for the help, comments. I was thinking it would probably look good with the Iris pseudacorus 'Variegata' I have it is yellow/green leaves are pretty.
