Hi! I have a large leaf jade that has lots of tiny raised bumps on the leaves, which is causing the leaves to die and fall off. Is there anyway to treat this? I've also been having problems trying to keep ants out of the pot, would this be affecting it too? I can take some pictures when I'm home as I can't find an example online. Thanks!!

Yes, please take photos of YOUR plant. It sounds like you have a scale insect infestation.

Do you think I can save it? Also if I can't save it, doesn't that mean I can't use the soil for something else? Thanks!!

Yes, its scale insects. The ants are 'farming' them because the scale is excreting 'honeydew', a sweet sticky substance. You can get rid of the scale by wiping the entire plant down with rubbing alcohol on gauze pads or cotton balls. The ants can be killed by pouring insecticidal soap through the potting soil. You have to wet every inch of soil otherwise the ants will not be completely killed. Be prepared with spray insecticidal soap to kill any ants that make a run for it.

Even if you choose to abandon the plant, DO NOT reuse the soil.
