Plant ID forum: Before I pull this, is it a weed?

I was pulling weeds by my heat pump today, and I discovered 2 plants I don't think are weeds. Well, the first one is definitely a sunflower. The second doesn't look like any weed I've ever pulled in my yard, but I don't know what it is. Anyone recognize this?

It may be a sunflower also. Or at least a relative.

Well, that would be nice. I won't pull it and we'll see! I am shocked that anything grows there as my pool guy insists on backwashing there instead of where I've asked him to.
