Hi everyone! Very new to container gardening. I love to cook, but haven't ever had much luck with growing anything! I have a 24 inch pot that I'd like to use for a garden this year. I was thinking of putting in one cherry tomato, one anaheim pepper, four lettuce (baby romaine) and four spinach plants in the container.

Is that too many plants for one container?
Could I also fit marigolds in there as well?

Looking forward to vanquishing my black thumb with your expert help!

Welcome!

If you used a patio tomato, it will work. You will have to use good quality potting soil. And, if you decide to do it again next year, discard your soil and get new. This is when a whole lot of folks are going to jump in and say you can re-use your soil. But with that many plants in one pot, it will be pretty depleted of everything by fall. But it will make one of your gardening friends with a big yard very happy.

The lettuce and spinach are cool season growers and tomatoes and peppers like the heat and sunshine. They won't be in the pot at the same time. Smiling

I agree with @Daisly
Leave the flowers and greens out.

:) Thanks! It's a cherry tomato which I think will work?

Thanks for pointing that out! Didn't even think of that. I'll use a medium size pot for them instead and then fill it with new soil once the cool season is over. Smiling

Thanks! I will! I didn't consider that the greens will obviously need quite different conditions.
