JimandLauraplus4, can you give us an idea of where (what part of the country) this plant is growing? I should have enlarged the photos to get a closer view; it doesn't look like Virginia Sweetspire now that I see it more closely and I think that @Greene is on the right track, it looks more like Prunus species but it would help to narrow down a more exact ID if we knew where it was growing.
