I just bought this little palm from Home Depot (you think I would have learned my lesson by now, I think their plants are cared for in a way that makes them last just until they get in your door). I think it's an Areca Palm, or at least that's what I was going for. :)

When I got it home, I noticed the leaves were dusty or something, I was worried they had sprayed it with something, so I wiped them with a wet cloth and I think some of the leaves went directly under the water. I'm guessing this is what started the problem.

Now the leaves are brownish and wilted. It doesn't look happy. I tried watering it normally, then watering it lots, and now I'm not watering it at all. It hasn't changed during any of this.

Anyone have any suggestions?

It could be just adjusting to temperature variance, being moved from one location to another. Give it time to adjust . Just trim off the wilted leaves. Be careful with watering, less water when temps are still cooler.

Coincidentally, I also bought an Areca palm not so long ago, and it did just the same thing as yours is doing right now. It lost quite a few leaves, even it's new growth at the time. But after adjusting it's absolutely fine and even thriving. Just don't over-water it, thorough watering once a week during spring-summer, and once every 2 weeks during dormant periods does just fine. Also it loves misting, it's a tropical plant after-all. Here's a picture of the Areca I bought last summer.
