I am finding seeds that I planted a few days or a couple of weeks ago laying on top of the soil. Does anyone know of an insect that might be doing this?

We are in the 80's during the day, usually 70's at night. There is no frost. I didn't know that frost could push them up. Thanks so much for your ideas of the cause of the problem. We had a heavy rain about a week ago and I thought that might be the problem, but I found a few more squash seeds on top of the ground yesterday that had not been there the day before.

Way way off subject: My wife and I stayed in Boerne last Thursday but it was not us digging up your seeds Smiling . We walked main street on Friday morning and enjoyed it very much. Although the one store that I wanted to go to had a closed sign Sad

A couple of days ago I watched a snake slither into my greenhouse. A light bulb went off--where there's snakes, there's mice. So my husband put a couple of traps in the greenhouse and garden. Sure enough, mice were the culprits. One of their hallmarks is digging up seeds. So I guess the mystery is solved. Hurray!
