I am considering planting a SUGAR TYME CRABAPPLE, (Manzano Sugar Tyme) in my front yard. Someone told me Crabapple fruits make a big mess on the surrounding ground. Is this verity prone to do so?

Sugar Tyme does have little fruits on it but birds and other animals love crabapples. And the fruits extend the show. I have a flowering crabapple that does not have fruit. I was disappointed to find that out (no fruit) - I was visualizing all the birds and critters that would enjoy that sweet feast.

If you don't want to deal with the mess, there are a lot of beautiful crabapples that don't set fruit.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
