I need to know if there is a red salvia that will grow in the Denver, CO area (perennial) as this is a cold winter area.

Salvia microphylla is very hardy.
Salvia greggii Royal Bumble is rather choice although it may be better in a slightly sheltered spot.
Salvia darcyii is maybe worth a punt too.

Salvia (Salvia microphylla 'Royal Bumble')
Red Mountain Sage (Salvia darcyi)

What zone are you in? All are minimum cold hardiness to approx. 7a

I believe Denver gets down to 5a or b

I am in zone 5a. Thank you for your information! It can get below freezing here once in awhile.
