Ooo, fancy scale. I had these guys infest my acacia tree when I lived in Modesto, CA. They killed it. I couldn't get ahead of them.

Be aggressive in your attempt to get rid of them.

BTW, that is a nice bug photo. Do we have a place we stick bug pics?

If you only have a few of them, Alcohol on a Q-tip or a cotton ball will take care of them. If you have an infestation, bring out the big guns! I haven't read the info on that link, but there should be a method for control mentioned in it. Be diligent in checking the plant, as those are egg sacks on it's back. I have lived here for 29+ years, and I had never seen one of those until about three years ago, so I had to look it up too.
