Snow and snap peas edible pod are grown on a 24 foot trellis made of three 4 by 8 foot concrete reinforcing wire supported by 6 foot fence posts and held with plastic ties. This system is quick and effective and the spent pea vegetation is easily removed at season’s end.

Today I planted sugar snap peas and snow peas both edible pod along the trellis. The ground temperature was 10C but will be warmer long term starting tomorrow. The recommended low is about 15C for pea soil temperature. I took a chance, since the soil is ideal moisture wise and is well drained.

A 25 foot row of sugar snap and snow peas germinated and are growing well. Half the row was of each type, both edible pod. The ground temperature hovered around about 12C during this growing period.
