I planted my new hostas in bigger pots and plan to grow them in more sun for two yrs. When I first moved I did this until I prepared the shade garden. They grew and increased faster.

I read yrs ago that some nurseries do this to get fast maxim growth.

I've been growing some hostas in full sun for the last two years after we had to removed a dead ash tree and the growth rate of the affected hostas has stunned me. Some of the get rather crispy late in the season, but most grew much faster whether they got crispy or not.

There is a Sum and Substance not to far from me, it is growing in a full sun East site, it is huge. well over 4' and as least as wide. It is faded and pretty dry looking by the end of the season, but much larger than any I have seen before.

My hosta garden is dark shade not even five minutes of sun. So to get the growth I started this sun treatment before I put them in the dark.

In the pots and with lots of water I do not get early crispy.
