I removed a sweet autumn clematis a few years ago but it germinated all over my yard. Now every Spring I get clematis shoots everywhere that have been withstanding weed killers. How do I get rid of this annoying growths amidst my grass ?

Welcome! and good luck on that.

I have been battling the Sweet Autumn Clematis seedings for 20 years. I don't understand where all those seeds are even coming from after all this time.

Clematis terniflora spreads not only by seed, but also by root runners. We are slowly but surely killing it off by using glysophate (roundup undiluted)) painted on the leaves and stems with a small foam paint brush. If you remove the plant, make sure you get ALL of the roots.
