Years ago when I made a trade of multiple plants I received a piece of plant called Ric Rac Cactus. It's grown like crazy. When I went to the Plant Database I discovered there are two separate genus called Ric Rac. Selenicereus anthonyanus and Epiphyllum anguliger which to my eyes look exactly the same. So which one do I have and what are the differences?

I don't have either of those but comparing it to photos online, your plant seems to be more like Selenicereus anthonyanus the way the leaves grow, seems narrower edges compared to epi. When it blooms, you will have better id, Selenicereus anthonyanus blooms have that pink and white petals.

I agree with Tarev and I do have Selenicereus anthonyanus. This plant does have sharp thorns and I don't think that the epi has any. Also, this plant is more popular and easier to find than the epiphyllum. BTW it is a night bloomer. I was reading somewhere recently to treat it as you would schlumbergera--no light after dusk--if you hope to see blooms.

Thanks Tarev and Deborah! I'm hoping it blooms soon too!
