Thread OP

I have recently moved into a new home and I cannot figure out what type of tree this is. It looks similar to a crape myrtle but the leaves are shaped differently. It has not flowered yet but it has dead flower heads on it from last year that look kind of bulb shaped. Please please help me out!!
