I have this growing in the Pacific NW. I got it as a chunk from my sister about 6 years ago. It was slow to establish, but was initially rather shadowed by a large bunch of crocosmia 'Lucifer' and had to fight for sunshine. It has now bulked up and is holding its own. For me it blooms from mid June to early July, and holds the blossoms well without falling over. I like the clean yellow color.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

I've had Hyperion for many years and added several more 2 years ago. It's been a good performer but most of all I love the fragrance.

I have found Hyperion to be a great perennial border plant. I have it at the back of one of my long perennial borders and it is nice and tall and the fragrant clear lemon blooms look lovely above the lower growing plants in front. I have it beside a clump of blue veronica and the yellow and blue make a pretty garden picture. This is a great daylily and at 40 inches tall, it can make a nice backdrop to many other perennials.
This is a daylily with staying power. It was registered in 1924, and is still popular!

I love the idea of Hyperion: its long and perfectly shaped flower petals in a garden-friendly yellow, its stately size, its ease of care, and its fragrance. Its combination of attributes makes it quite elegant and stately in the garden.

Or it could. I have planted Hyperion where it gets only dappled light. It grows vigorously enough to outcompete weeds; but after two, maybe three years it has yet to flower. Is it possible to tell whether it is lack of light or lack of water that causes it not to flower?

This is one of the very first daylilies that I bought when I started to put in flower beds at our house which we built over 25 years ago. It's still going strong and I've divided it several times. (It's due for another attack of the cruel shovel this year!) It's a reliable long bloomer and I love the fresh, lemon yellow flowers with a lovely light fragrance. It's a winner in my garden.

I had been searching for this particular variety for a few years. Last year, driving along the dirt roads and admiring the incredibly old houses and abandoned structures, I caught a glimpse of something yellow. There it was. A lone survivor of a garden that once was. The house was beyond a hundred years old and it too had long since been forgotten about. So I brought that daylily home. It bloomed a few days ago and is going strong.
I promised to divide it and give some to a friend who has also been searching for this bright yellow beauty.

It has done well for me here. Probably not a popular choice in areas where daylily rust is endemic though, given it's reported susceptibility.

@Steve812 when mine was in the shade it didn't bloom nearly as good as the sun. I very rarely water mine and they do better in sun.

Hyperion came to our garden by way of an old garden that was on the property. There was an old wooden farmhouse there which had burned down a few years before we moved here. A number of the plants survived and Hyperion was one of them. I recognized it from pictures and from the fragrance. There is no telling how old this plant is, but we have divided it and there are several in one area and one in another area. The several get more sun than the one, and they bloom better. This is an excellent plant, always performs well every year. We always plan to have it. Here is a picture of the one clump I took several years ago.

Hyperion is such a nice shade of yellow, it multiplies well & blooms for quite a long time. It has been in several places in my garden & has done well in every one, except one spot where the shade overtook it.
