Plant ID forum: Unknown shrub

I had someone else ask me what this small shrub is. I can't tell from the photo. Was found in along a river in the Sacramento Valley in California. Any help with ID would be appreciated!

I was thinking a type of Salix (willow) too...
When counting, try not to mix chickens with blessings.
