Hi Anne, these are gorgeous and that's part of the problem. They're endangered because they are being indiscriminately harvested for sale and by callous, careless tourists. I ask you to rethink ordering any. They are indigenous to the Canary Islands and from the little that I know, are not so easy to care for, and will probably die in captivity, if you will. Shrug!

I agree with whatever Abbey just said. Smiling The laws to protect endangered plants are not universal. We need to use our own judgement.

That said, my Mother once bought a couple blackmarket plants from Mexico. Her argument was that we were saving them from people who couldn't keep them alive. My argument was that she was encouraging the decimation of this species by creating demand. Sighing!
