I have a helpful list of vegetables for Zone 6B Kismet, Fire Island New York. Is there a list of suitable flowering plants, clematis and trees for this area?

Welcome!

Visit your local (not BigBox) nursery and see what they are selling. Look at your neighbors' yards and in the park to see what is growing.

Joan, your best resource for that information is your local County Extension service. Many Extension offices have a Plant Clinic or phone/e-mail service for answering questions. Here, our Master Gardeners man the lines 5 days/wk.

Next best would be a local nursery - now I mean a *real* nursery not the garden section at a Lowe's or Home Depot where they will sell all sorts of plants not well adapted to your locale. A nursery will also have knowledgeable staff, where the box stores usually don't.
