Just a thought: something about it makes me think of a rather unhealthy Gardenia, but I really can't tell much from the photo.

You're right- I just realized that was a pretty bad picture I took. I just went and took a few more. Can you please take a look?

I think I can see some sort of tiny buds as if it is about to bloom. Flowers would certainly help identify it. I am surprised that one of our experts hasn't named it yet.

Yes, as a new member I haven't had much luck getting responses. A bit disappointed. But thank you for responding. I appreciate it.

It's not a gardenia, but I'm not sure what it is. It looks vaguely familiar, but I can't quite put my finger on it. When those flower buds bloom, try reposting some pics of the flowers if you don't have an ID by then. That will definitely help.

The leaves and buds do look a lot like Euonymus. Possibly Euonymus japonica.

Thank you so much Horntoad. I looked up Euonymus Japonica and it does appear to be the same. I'll still post a few pictures when it flowers.

Glad I was able to help.
Do add good close ups of the flowers when they are open so we can double check.

Looking at the available photos of your plants I think it might be Euonymus japonicus. Flowers will be helpful to make the identification. Whatever it turns out to be, it has suffered severe damage possibly from either frost/cold or drought/underwatering. Gonna need some serious pruning to make it look good. Good luck and hope for the best. Crossing Fingers!

Thanks Greene- I've not been a big fan of this plant. Have been thinking of pulling it out and replacing with a small bed of annuals. Now might be a good time. Thanks for your input.
