I recently found this pretty little plant at a gift shop and my fellow plant obsessed friends and I are at a loss to figuring out what it is. The little spikes you can see look like they would be hardened and pokey like a cactus but they are actually very soft. What is it?!?

I'll just start and say that all cacti are succulents but not all succulents are cacti. It reminds me of a Stapelia but the entire plant is so upright and looks large in size, so I am suspecting not. Somebody else can finish and possibly give you an ID.

It is Senecio stapeliaeformis, or Kleinia stapeliaeformis, a South African Succulent.

I agree with Ursula. It reminds me of Pickle Plant (Kleinia stapeliiformis) I received cuttings in a trade once but couldn't keep the plant alive.

I second that. Smiling
