I have been posting my pictures on the Bloom Season 2017 thread, but some people there suggested that we each start our own thread. I still have enough new pictures to post to justify having my own thread, I think, although my first blooms opened on April 2. I'm now moving into peak bloom. So here goes:

Disguise T. Johnson 2006

This is a 3rd year clump with six stalks. The first flower in this clump opened on April 6. Three of the stalks still have blooms on them, although
I think they will be done in a day or two. I wish this photo showed the whole clump, but clump shots are hard to focus, I find.

For example:

Thumb of 2017-04-26/AndreaD/6c0104

The flowers in the foreground are Designer Gown (Ghio 1985). I have a lot of it, because it is in an area that I ignored for a few years and it is the only cultivar that survived and spread.

Goodnight Moon

Thumb of 2017-04-26/AndreaD/c768c1

This is a pretty yellow self. I like the name, because it's the title of a children's book I read to my daughter when she was very small.

Some Like It Hot

I love the colors of this iris, but it is has a tendency to get lost down in the foliage.

Some Like It Hot again

Sea Cruise

This is a really lovely iris. It is very pale blue and very, very pale blue and has a silvery quality when it opens.

Bon Appetit

Thumb of 2017-04-26/AndreaD/3f417a

Bon Appetit is a child of my old favorite, Pond Lily. I posted PL once, but here it is again, for comparison. The pollen parent was Boudoir.

I agree with you on the difficulty of clump shots. It is just hard to get them all in focus. Grumbling

Your pictures are lovely. I will pay attention and not accidentally post my pics in California Bloom Season instead of Carolina Bloom Season. Hilarious!

I really like Pond Lily!

Robin and Liz, I'm glad you like Some Like It Hot. It looks like a Blyth iris,
doesn't it? It's actually from Paul Black. It's quite prolific. I divided mine last year and gave a lot to my iris society auction, but next year I should have plenty to share.

Jan, I hope your rain stopped today and stays stopped.

These opened yesterday:

Advanced Degree Black 2011

This was a bonus from Mid-America five years ago. Reliable bloomer. In
Mid-America's catalog, it looks kind of blah, but in person, it is quite pretty.

Neptune's Cloak Hager 1992

A survivor. Good bloomer.

Parisian Dawn Keppel 2006

Thumb of 2017-04-26/AndreaD/b714e3

I bought this from Mid-America three years ago. It has bloomed reliably
and has made a nice clump this year.

Power Point T. Johnson 2005

Here's one for Bonnie's beard garden. A pretty iris, good grower and bloomer, but its stems are very tall and not terribly strong. Last year I had to stake it, and this year several stalk tips snapped off, either due to wind or too much rain. (I've had the experience that, sometimes, when a stem is ready to bloom and gets a heavy rainfall, it spontaneously snaps.)

Purple Serenade Schreiner 2005

Thumb of 2017-04-26/AndreaD/56651e

This iris is a beautiful royal purple that I got as a bonus from Schreiner.

Strut Your Stuff Black 2007

Another purchase from Mid-America in 2014. It has bloomed every year,
but this year it is struggling, with only one bloom stalk and one increase. I think this may be due to being planted between two more vigorous growers. I'll move it this summer and then we'll see.

Sunrise Elegy

Thumb of 2017-04-26/AndreaD/11c9fa

Another bonus from Schreiner. This is a very cheerful and bright yellow iris.
Good increaser and bloomer.

Andrea,

My Power Point did the same thing last year. It is in the last row near a fence and two of my three stalks broke off before the buds showed color. One did snap above the last branch, but it was a disappointment as it was the first year it had bloomed. This year it is being moved. That area doesn't get as much sun as it needs.

Lovely irises, Andrea and great photography too. I tip my hat to you.

You really should add those pictures to the iris database, especially the one of Power Point! Lovey dubby

Lovely iris. I think it is interesting that Sunrise Elegy and Parisian Dawn are super growers for you all. Mine bloom once every three years and hardly increase. It looks like Sunrise Elegy will bloom this year. I seriously have not seen it since it's first year in my garden.
