Our new Gardner cut down our evergreen ferns just as they were coming up this year. We are heartbroken as we love how they look during the summer. Will they grow back this year or are they too damaged now? They had been out of the ground for about 3 weeks now.

This may depend upon what kind of fern they are. Do you have a picture of them maybe from last year?

Most ferns put out new fronds from the center of the clump all during the growing season, so if the growing tip at the center wasn't damaged, they may put up new fronds. Give them enough water and wait and see is about all you can do.
