Plant ID forum: Yellow flower blooming now beside pond

This plant has appeared beside our pond and is flowering this year (Ontario). I have tried to identify it. My first assumption was that it is a native wild flower but I have not been able to identify it as a plant that is native to Ontario. Does anyone know what it is?

It looks like some kind of Narcissus. There are a TON of diff ones, though most of the entries are cultivars. IDK how to find just species in the database here:

I agree that it does look like a Narcissus. I don't think it looks enough like 'Rip van Winkle' to be it. It does look very much like 'Gerardes double' but perhaps not completely enough to convince me.

If it is a Narcissus then plausibly explaining how it appeared is going to be very difficult. There have been no Narcissus of any sort in that part of the pond shoreline in at least 50 years. If it is a double Narcissus it presumably could not have grown from seed.

Anomaly in the petals may be fasciation.
