I purchased this cactus and I can't find much info about it. The scientific name on the label was incorrect , it was labeled as a rat tail cactus. I'm not concerned about the name , but about these root like things that are coming out of the ends. I'm new to cacti and can't seem to figure out what they are. They have just grown within the week since I've brought him home . Any idea what they are ?

Those are roots. This is an epiphytic cactus that grows on top of other plants in nature (or at least it has the ability to do that). It will root wherever it needs to in order to stay attached. You can ignore those roots if you want. With some plants, adventitious roots are a sign that the original roots may not be functioning well, but not so in this case.

Hi Strng3rs, Welcome!

I've had a cactus for about 4 years that had no label when I purchased it and a few years ago someone identified it as Rattail Cactus (Disocactus flagelliformis) but it looks just like the one in your photo as well as one of the pictures in our database for Dog-Tail Cactus (Strophocactus testudo)

I'll have to have my photos moved to the correct entry.
