I believe it is the larval stage of the Australian longtailed sawfly. Are you in Australia?

Are you able to get a bottle of Bt? Here it's available as a concentrate that you dilute and spray on the plants as soon as you see damage. It's an organic approved pesticide, a naturally occuring bacteria -bacillus thuringensis - that just makes the caterpillars get sick and die if they feed on leaves treated with it.

Just be careful what plants you spray, because of course it will kill caterpillars of good pollinators and butterflies as well.

If it is a sawfly then Bt for caterpillars won't work, unfortunately.
